Procedure for booking first visits and operating rooms

Book an appointment only to be seen by Dr. Joaquim Suñol.

The first visit consists of a general explanation, examination, personalized diagnosis, surgical indication and complete and detailed information about the entire process, including potential risks and complications, and is not free.

The appointment reservation requires a deposit of €100 (euros), which will be refunded if you cannot attend and cancel your reservation at least 48 hours in advance.

After this visit, the patient may return to his/her city to make a decision at his/her leisure, and if he/she decides to undergo surgery, he/she may contact us again to schedule a day for the intervention.

Make an appointment to see Dr. Joaquim Suñol, and also book an outpatient operating room in case you decide to have surgery after the visit (for the same day in the afternoon, for the following day or another day of the same week or the following week).

If after the visit you decide not to have surgery, the operating room reservation will be cancelled without any problem.

The visit reservation requires a deposit of €100 (euros) which will be refunded if you cannot attend and cancel your reservation at least 48 hours in advance.

The operating room reservation requires a deposit of €500 (euros), which will be refunded if you cannot attend and cancel your reservation at least 7 days in advance or if after the visit you decide not to have surgery.

  • At the time of booking, the patient must provide a photograph of his/her ID or passport and pay the reservation deposits: €100 to reserve an appointment for the visit and €500 to reserve the operating room.
  • Payment must be made in euros and can be made by bank transfer or credit card.
  • If you use a bank transfer for payment, please ensure that any fees are your responsibility and if a refund is necessary, any fees charged by our bank will be deducted from the refund.
  • If you use a credit card for payment and a refund becomes necessary, the processing fee charged by our credit card processing company (3-4%) will be deducted from the refund.
  • If the patient cannot attend the reserved appointment, he/she must notify us as far in advance as possible by WhatsApp or email.
  • It is mandatory to reconfirm attendance at the scheduled appointment 48 hours in advance.

Questions asked by patients who come from outside Barcelona

Yes, patients who come from other countries or distant cities often ask us to make both appointment and operating room reservations so they can decide whether or not to have surgery once they have visited, and thus take advantage of the trip.

It is highly recommended to stay in Barcelona at least until the next day.

It is not necessary to remove the sutures because they are absorbable and fall off on their own after about 10-20 days. There is also no need to do any dressings in the consultation after the operation.

It is possible to do postoperative monitoring and control via WhatsApp, sending photos and asking any questions you may have. Dr. Joaquim Suñol will personally answer all your questions. After a few months, he will be able to send us some control photos to add to our medical history.

We will prescribe you a preventative antibiotic that you will need to take for only three days and a painkiller that you can take every 6 hours if you are in pain.

Depending on the type of otoplasty, the postoperative dressing may vary, but in most cases, a sterile gauze and a loose elastic band are sufficient. This band should only be worn for 2 to 4 days after surgery.

Advice from Dr. Joaquim Suñol

  • You can arrive in Barcelona on the same day of the surgery (it is not necessary to come fasting) and we recommend staying in Barcelona for at least one day after the surgery.
  • It is not necessary to come with someone, but it is recommended.
  • The sutures used are absorbable and fall off on their own after 10-20 days (it is not necessary to remove them).
  • If you decide to have the operation after the visit, you can pay the cost of the operation on the same day, before being operated on. Therefore, it is very important that, before travelling, you have previously checked with your bank to make sure that you have a valid payment system in euros (credit card or bank transfer) with a limit that covers the total amount of the expenses.

The patient must:

  • Notify us of any health problems or alterations you may have: heart or blood clotting problems, diabetes, epilepsy, kidney or liver problems
  • Send us a standard blood test less than 6 months old before the procedure.
  • Inform us of all medications or vitamin supplements you are taking.

PROHIBITIONS:

  • You should not take any type of medication without notifying us first.
  • You should not smoke for at least 1 week before and 2 weeks after surgery.
