Lobuloplasty
The holes for earlobe earrings can become larger over time or even tear completely in cases of trauma. The use of large and heavy earrings and the lack of consistency or hardness of the tissues of the earlobe promote the dilation of the holes.
To solve this problem, it is necessary to completely close the hole and reconstruct the thickness of the earlobe so that when the new holes are made, there is support for internal tissues and the result is more durable.
Dr. Suñol’s advice
The use of large and heavy earrings and the lack of consistency or hardness of the tissues of the earlobe favour the dilation of the holes for the earrings of the earlobes, which become larger over time or can even tear completely in cases of trauma.
Plastic surgery of the ear allows the reconstruction of the lobes, making a “reset”, that is: completely closing the existing dilated hole, reconstructing the thickness of the lobe so that when the new holes are made there is support from internal tissues and the result is more durable and suturing the skin in front of and behind the lobe with cosmetic surgery techniques to minimise as much as possible the small scars, which are inconspicuous.
It is necessary to wait a while (about 45/60 days) before making new holes for earrings, which can be placed wherever desired.
Lobuloplasty to reconstruct dilated or torn earring holes
Lobuloplasty allows you to create new earring holes and wear earrings that you were unable to wear before with dilated or torn holes. Lobuloplasty corrects dilated or torn earring holes with very good aesthetic results, but it does not change the consistency of the tissues of the earlobe or prevent the continued use of large and heavy earrings from causing your earring holes to dilate or tear again.
What are the scars like after a Lobuloplasty?
The scars left after a Lobuloplasty are practically invisible because they are carefully sutured using cosmetic surgery techniques.
The stitches used to close the incision are absorbed and fall off on their own after 10-20 days. The intervention is performed under local anesthesia and is completely painless. Postoperative inflammation is minimal and disappears in a few days.

Price to correct holes for stretched or torn earrings
The procedure to correct dilated or torn earring holes may vary depending on the degree of dilation or the amount of torn tissue. Depending on the diagnosis made at the first visit, one surgical technique or another may be used and the procedure will be more or less complex. Once the level of difficulty and the patient’s expectations of results have been analysed, we provide a total estimate with the fees of the cosmetic surgeon and assistants, as well as the clinic expenses (outpatient operating room, materials and anaesthetics). The price of a unilateral lobuloplasty usually ranges from €450 for a basic lobuloplasty to around €900 for a complex lobuloplasty.
